Marketing to Seniors

I've had quite a few agents recently ask me for advice for marketing to senior citizens.  Over the weekend, I received an article by email that I think really sums it all up really well.

There are some great pointers in the article, including a reminder that the senior population is more likely to read your direct mail and respond to it than other demographics.  I also really liked this extremely insightful quote:

“Half of all the households [with people] over 65 [years old] are headed by a single person, and 80% of those people are women. So, one of the bigger mistakes that marketers make is mailings with pictures of only couples,”

I hope you find this article to be helpful, and I hope you all have a fantastic day.

Great post. Very interesting statistic and perspective. This segment is increasingly a larger segment of my business. Probably because I am getting closer and closer myself!

Mark, I earned my Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designation last year.  It was one of the better courses I have taken.

Smart advise about name calling.  It is always good to read these articles, you never know how someone is going to react from words.

Mark - I really enjoy working with seniors in my neighborhood.  They seem so much more appreciative of the work I do for them.  It's often hard to sell a home you've been in for 30 or 40 years.  I get great satisfaction knowing that I have done something good for them.  Have a great week!
