Where are the magic beans?

Bean StalkIn the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk, the little boy Jack's family falls on hard times and when their cow stops producing milk he trades it in for some magic beans. The magic beans grow this enormous bean stalk into the clouds where Jack has an adventure with a giant. He ends up eventually coming down with a golden harp and a hen that lays golden eggs. All is restored and Jack marries a great princess and lives happily ever after.

In real estate, I keep hearing those who are searching for the magic beans to get their businesses to make money and thrive especially in a downturn. They are searching for what may be likened to what you hear called a "silver bullet." Magic doesn't just "happen" in real life. People who work hard are often called "lucky." But real success requires planning, adjustment to reality, and this:

HARD WORK!!

Everyone can see the fruits of your labor after the fact but they don't often see the preparation that went into it beforehand. You can't skip the fundamental steps that are required to build a solid business like lead generation, systems, and building your relationships. You must be willing to do the work to get the business off the ground.

Hard work is the magic beans in the real world that will allow you to live happily ever after.

Arina: Any of us that get blessed (with magic beans), I think it is our duty to share. If a beanstalk starts to grow in my backyard I'll hold back a few beans back for you <Smile>.

And if you get extraordinarily rich with all your talent at your business promise to drive me around town in your Bentley when I visit!!

Gary - The most successful agents I know have all planted seeds, tended them and reaped the rewards--usually after years of hard work.  No magic beans or bullets involved.

Roberta: It sounds like your snowball is rolling down the hill and gaining momentum. Very good for you.

Norma: Hard work and preparation are like the iceberg effect. Much we don't see from the surface.

Gary, I completely agree.  Hard work and dedication are keys to our success.  We have to work hard today for that pay some 30 to 60 days later.  So if we are slow now.  How hard did we work 45 days ago?
