Packages from Home and a Special Tribute

Services for Real Estate Pros

My daughter and her husband have their own blog site titled Every Life Has A Story,  they started this before marriage and it chronicled the engagement period, the pre-nuptial period and then the honeymoon period. How they've moved on to other things and the blog has grown.  This post Kim and John wrote this week for an event they are participating in this Saturday March 1.  A little story behind why they are involved in this.  John's best friend, Jimmy Wikowski, died in Iraq in February 2006 (just a couple weeks before John's own father passed away).  It was a tough time for the kids.  They did not find out that Jimmy had died until after John's dad died and the way they found out about it was in watching the evening news.  John and Kim met with Jimmy's parents and have become good friends...the Witkowski seniors became involved in the 'packages from home' program during the summer after Jimmy's death.  John and Kim felt led to help where needed also.  With that said, and if you have nothing to do on March 1 and you live in the Phoenix area you might want to go and help support our troops.

On Saturday, March 1st 2008 we will be assisting with another event with http://www.packagesfromhome.org/. If you live in Phoenix and are looking for something to do come by and show us some love! We will be at the Packages From Home booth at the Margaret T-Hance Park from 1 p.m - 4 p.m. on Saturday .

Margaret T-Hance Park, is located at the SE corner of 3rd Street and Moore, just south of the Burton Barr Library and located on top of the I-10 tunnel freeway, just north of downtown Phoenix and pretty much centrally located for everyone

There will also be a special presentation of an American flag which has flown in Iraqi from Packages From Home to Councilman Johnson, whose son is presently serving in Iraq.

Mary - That is a wonderful thing they are doing.  I am glad the Witkowski family are involved, it probably helps them cope in some ways.

Mary, sounds like you do a lot for your community. You play bridge? I used to play duplicate bridge when my children were growing up.

Mary, that is so touching that they are doing this.  Our son leaves for his second tour on the 11th.  We are driving to Fort Hood this weekend to pick up his car and bring it back here.  It means a lot that our country is still backing our soldiers the way they are.  I'm glad we learned our lesson from VietNam.  When our son is in uniform he is often thanked by people for his service.
