Cabin in Red Feather Lakes CO, comes with moose

By

Yesterday I was showing cabins in Crystal Lakes – Crystal Lakes is a mountain subdivision in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado.  It was a chilly day in Red Feather and as the day went on it was getting cooler. A drizzling rain that would certainly turn into a light snow after sundown began to fall as we neared the last cabin on the tour.

Actually, appointments were made to see more cabins, but we simply ran out of time because each stop before  had rock outcroppings and meadows to explore and jaw dropping views that demanded silent deep breathes and extra time to drink it all in….all of which prevented us from moving forward in a timely fashion.  It’s a beautiful place- what else can I say.

We drove up the long driveway toward the last cabin of the day and at the top we met this majestic bull moose, together with a mama moose and her calf! Mama and her calf quickly moved away from the cabin, but the bull was not about to have us interrupt his grazing time.

At one point he moved into the trees, his huge antlers loudly cracking against the trees and small branches in his path, but soon returned to his original spot within our view.  Never mind the cabin for sale, or showing schedule- the buyers and I were thrilled and took the extra time to watch this amazing creature.

Finally, we decided to go into the cabin, which is lovely 2 bedroom, 2 bath home, with an updated kitchen, golden aspen views seen from the large windows in the living room, a warm cozy wood burning stove in the corner, and light pine walls and ceilings to provide the necessary mountain ambiance.

Mary, WOW did you capture a fabulous photo of this bull moose!   No wonder showings were not as quick as usual.    Time to drink in the beauty!

I am blown away by your gorgeous photos, Mary. HOly cow, I have never seen a moose up close. All the time we were in Alaska, I kept hoping to spot a moose and there was no bullwinkle anywhere!!!

Elizabeth, Half of the time, when I do see them, they're in the trees before I can get my camera out!   They're pretty elusive so seeing this big guy just made my week. Thanks Elizabeth!

P.S.- Come to Red Feather- buy the cabin and I KNOW you will see Moose! :-)

That is some spread on his rack. What a great sight! I love your fall color picture, too. Did the moose sell the cabin for you?

Good morning Mary,

I can see why you didn't make all the cabins on your list..stopping to drink in the magic if the mountains was an important part of your showings today. I hope the buyers were dully impressed:).

Good morning Debbie, thank you! I'm not sure yet if the moose will seal the deal, but they certainly provided that extra "curb appeal"  and great first impression:-)

Hi Dorie, soaking in all the surroundings and walking the land is a huge part of showings here...it can be challenging to stay on a schedule sometimes! I think they were very impressed with everything they saw!

Hi Bruce, I sure hope the moose can help with the sale.  The Algonquin say if you dream of moose you will have good fortune.

Hi Adrian, I love the aspen this time of year also- this year they are just spectacular.

Mary, it has been our experience here that sighting a herd of deer is an automatic sale, and since we has no moose here in our neck of the woods I will take your word for it!

Hi Captain, thank you coming by and taking a look.

Bruce, the deer do their best to show up at showings in Glacier View...so far it hasn't proven to be an automatic sale, though :-)

Hi Than, yes, they can be aggressive. ' Wouldn't want to get too close or surprise them either.  But, luckily  the ones I've encountered either walk away into the trees or like this one- just calmly stay put. :-)  Thanks for coming by, I appreciate it.

Hi Toni, well, I never thought about it, but I guess you don't have moose....and we don't have manatees: both are awesome giants!  I'm glad to see you Toni, thanks for coming by today. Have a great week!

Hi Mary,

Spectacular photo of the moose. I think it is amazing that they can hold their heads up with such big antlers. I enjoy seeing the moose in Alaska too. I think this Kodak moment would be a good selling feature for the buyer looking at the cabin nearby.
