Who's ready for summer...uh...more SNOW -- a 4 letter word in Westchester County, NY 10583?

Our winter is well underway and is bringing record snow and ice to the Tri-state NY area...like another midweek storm!

...cannot wait for an end to all this "fun," in the snow -- with delays getting to our poor water damage clients. How about you?

Safety tips before and after the snow and weather hits are below:

Our "significant winter storm" last week in our NY region was amazing but is over -- that's good news because we have clients expecting us in our rear wheel drive vans and trucks -- one was a fire cleanup and tragic for the family!

Bad news:  Winter Storm "PAX" is on the way, slamming into snow weary southern states, then coming up to us in Scarsdale, NY 105893

Like you, we got dug out last week and then got ice on top of nearly a foot of snow in this NY suburg...adding insult to injury.  Be careful out there, if you are in the Tri-state.  A friend in the med field says they have many slip and falls coming in to her hospital.

Also, be sure to shovel and salt around your home, if you have a sidewalk AND your office or brokerage after Sunday night's dusting.  We don't want to be responsible for someone else falling, right?  (This is our front yard and poor maple)

Bad news:  We had to go and dig out the office, to get our crews and super staff in by afternoon -- a late snow delay start.

Also, we had additional fun since it was ice raining on us, as we dealt with the 5 additional snow inches overnight.  Tons of fun....and that stuff is heavy. However, shoveling the wet, dense white stuff was a good workout...no treadmill today, hooray!  Also, thank the gods that my parents left yesterday a.m. for Florida, because this ice may be here to stay, with temps in the 20s through the weekend.

We were worried about our rear wheel trucks getting around, especially for emergency calls.  We are a 24 hour on call service company...so it's sometimes a fun time with "deer on ice skates " vans that don't like this ice.

So here's the latest, with a preview of what's coming to Scarsdale 10583, to date,

snow winter storm warning water damage basement flood wet lower level emergency westchester county 10583 Oh no, more snow!  That's on top of the nearly one foot of snow, with an ice coating.  This is the latest about this week's possible NEXT storm, PAX ?"!!

All we need is another 4-8 inches by Thursday, falling on the snow we have now that won't melt in these temps!  Tonight will be 17 degrees...we'll see!  Get your salt, milk and TP now before the crowds and empty shelves.

This is Scarsdale's 10583 forecast, so far...with a total of 5 - 8 icy inches over snow:

Wednesday Night
nt_snow Snow likely. Low around 20F. Winds ENE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 80%. Snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches.

Since our commercial vehicles cannot take any NY parkways, the snowy back roads can be a challenge for 2nd Responders in weather like this.  Our crews are great...good driving!

Here are some safety tips in this weather, as we brace for more

Safety Tips -

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow. Sleet. And ice are expected or occurring. This will make travel dangerous. Only Travel in an emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, blankets, salt or cat sand for traction, food, and water in a cooler so it does not freeze...all in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

BTW:  What the heck is a Winter Storm Warning?

WatchWarning

A winter weather event including 1) snow, ice, or sleet meeting or exceeding locally defined 12 and/or 24 hour warning criteria; or 2) a combination of snow, ice, or sleet and blowing snow with at least one of the precipitation elements meeting or exceeding locally defined 12 and/or 24 hour warning criteria. I can't stand this snow. It's awful.  It's hard to drive and park, and getting stuck on driveways.  And, it's terrible for business. - Debbie

Thanks for commenting and agreeing that snow, although pretty on a winter night from a window...has become a "4 letter word" in Westchester.  We're getting another 5-8 inches this Wed night with next winter storm!  Yeesh, enough already!
