Trade

Among the most heinous things one human begin can do to another is trafficking. Trade is a film with two separate stories, one intriguing and one not so fascinating. The former follows Adriana through her harrowing ordeal at the hands of slavery ring. She is befriended by a young Polish woman, Veronica, who was also duped and kidnapped by the sex dealers. Together, they go through the horrible experience of traveling the underground "railroad" that will end in being sold as sex slaves. Veronica is repeatedly abused and beaten by her captors but virgin Adriana is being saved for her buyer at the upcoming auction. This is a story that is both gripping and gut wrenching in its depraved ruthlessness.

The selling of people, especially young women and children for use in the sex trade is the lowest of all actions. Trade looks at an international crime ring that routinely bought and sold girls barely in their teens for use as sex slaves. When a film is based on such an emotionally charged and despicable topic it is almost impossible to use words such as ‘enjoyment', ‘entertainment' or any other word with the slightest positive connotation. The shock in this case doesn't come from some fictious demonic creature or nightmarish monster. The horror instilled by this film is unfortunately all too real. Men like those shown in this work do operate on a daily basis kidnapping women and children to sell in the same fashion as you might offer an old record on E-Bay.

It is a difficult film to watch, especially if you have a daughter. You will never want to let your child out of your sight again!!

Yikes - I'm scared of this one.  I already don't ever want to let her out of my sight.

Chris- This was a very disturbing flick. It's something we wished didn't exist... but the reality is - it does! Like I said above, these are the real live monsters that blend in with us and are often unnoticed.
