Welcome to my home, Katy, Texas!

What used to be a small rice growing community 28 miles west of the big city of Houston, Texas this town has boomed since I mored here in 1976!  One of it's slogans is "A Town With A Heart.  Katy has an interesting history that goes back to 1872, when families were draw to the area for it's rich farming land, and the fact that the Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad was completed.  This made it easy for people;e to get to the area, and also to get farm products to market.  The land in Katy is rich and flat, making it prime farm land, and later prime rice fields.  The prairie was thick with tall, flowing grasses and so tall a man on horseback could not be seen.

Historical Katy Texas, a look back in time, by Liz Carter local Realtor since 1976, to read more please refer to this post that gives lots of details about it rich history, and enjoy the photographs here. Photos all property of Liz Carter.

Terrie - thanks, I did put several hours into this one, of course not counting taking the pictures :).  I did get the formating fixed, so it looks even better than when you saw it.  The other one I did in case you want to see some really pretty pictures us, Area Photos of Katy Texas, know as "The City of Churches", located 28 miles west of Houston.  I have several more I will be doing and will put a link on each to the other.  Please remember me if you have anyone coming to the greater Houston, Katy and Sugar Land areas of Texas.  Liz

Well Ms. Liz I found another one of your wonderful blogs. Wow! what a magnificant sunset; but the best picture is Mr. Rhett Butler now that I have met him in person I recognized him right away. Thanks to AR we had the opportunity to meet you, Rhett and Bill at the gathering over in Bandera.

Liz, this is wonderful but I just noticed your tags. If you (and I hope you are) are planning for this to be in Christina's contest you need to verify the tag. I think it's slightly different. Just check it...Deb
