Searcy AR Arch Street looking East toward Methodist Church. OLD!

arch street searcy ar

I love this old card that shows the dirt streets of Searcy AR.  It shows the First Methodist Church at the end of the street. The courthouse would be on the left of the solitary wagon and man on the street. I have already posted one with the street looking West.  I have several people contributing to our history of Searcy series (not intended but it has just happened).  I hope we can upload lots of great photos of our White County, Searcy AR area in the next few weeks.  Stay tuned if you like old pictures.  I personally am nuts about the black and white ones.

Barbara,

I love old photos like that. How about taking a photo today from the same location so we can compare?

Richard, that's a good idea.  I could do it on a weekend without getting run over, probably.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Patricia, I have lots more.  People are volunteering them and they are lots of fun.  Stay tuned.

Mike, stay tuned.  No one gets upset about my photos.

The building to the left of the Methodist Church (in the picture, not really.  Really it's  about a long block west)....anyway, it's the Security Bank - where my mother worked in her early working years AND she won a little contest to name the bank.  I think the original name was The People's Bank.

Anita, that's interesting.  Is that now First Security Bank?

Steven, I do post them to the localism group.  Is that what you mean or is there more that I am not aware of?  Clue me in.

Richard Mielke, a friend saw your comment and has sent me a photo as it is today, or two years ago.  Go see.  I put up another blog with both photos.
