Getting Agents To Splash

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Marketing 4 Realtors

I bit the bullet and decided to sponsor my local community.  I've got a ton of ideas of ways to make the best use of that sponsorship.  I'll go into details on how I'm using my localism community later!

For now, I have a question for you.  I'd really like to get the real estate brokerages and lending institutions in our area to see what a great thing we have here, both in the Rain and on the Localism side, but I'm not sure of the best way to do that.  I'd love some suggestions on how to approach area realtors and lenders about participating.

Now, before you jump out of your seats, I'm not trying to find ways to get invite points (although I won't turn them down if I get some).  What I'd like to do is to make the Localism community really reflect the small community we have here - and be sure it provides all of the great information that the realtors, lenders and city officials have to offer.

So, on that note, any suggestions?  Lay 'em on me, baby!

Renae, if your community is small, I would stop in at the various lenders, market leaders, etc and introduce myself and tell them about Localism.  Take your camera, snap a photo, write an article about them and show them first hand the power of marketing via this medium.

Good luck!

I think that word of mouth is a great way to go! Seems like the personal invite is a great way to start. :-) Good luck with it.

Ok, I've made some decisions about how I'm going to utilize my community spot. I'm going to visit area real estate offices, lending institutions, and stagers, taking pictures along the way, and feature them in my blog posts.  This way, I can use the community for what it is intended - to give people information about real estate in their local community.  I will also make entries about the goings-on in our community - school starting, festivals, tax updates, etc.

How does that sound to you?  Again, my goal isn't really to get agents and the like to join AR.  It is more about bringing awareness to them.

I, too have been talking with my colleagues in the industry about AR.  They love the idea however I find that they don't really do anything after that.  I guess it's very similar to prospecting for clients.  It's in the numbers.  I'm thinking of creating a newsletter for lenders, inspectors, stagers and so on where I will talk about AR amoungst other things.  Any thoughts?

Kris - That's exactly how I've decided to approach this in the hopes that I will be able to show area lenders, agents and stagers how powerful social networking really is!  What do you think?

Lindsey - I've been sending out invites to my business associates since about February and so far about 8 people have joined.  Word of mouth works great but I want to make it more personal, you know?  I think if I get out there and introduce myself to these people and tell them what I'm doing, that will make a much stronger impact, you know?

Ida - I hope they will appreciate it.  I'm hoping my efforts will really showcase my local area in the way that Localism is supposed to do!

Laura - I think that's an outstanding idea! Will it be print or e-mailed newsletter?  I like that - mind if I steal borrow it?

The newsletter goes out by email through a company that another AR member brought to me attention.  It's called Constant Contact and I'm using a 60 day free trial right now.  Their templates are really nice looking and very easy to customize.  It also allows you to creat different contact groups and tracks who opens you emails and who clicks through to your website.  I've got all kinds of ideas on how I would use this.  I have to be careful to make sure that the things I spend time on are going to drive business to myself.

I know Constant Contact, Laura, and I actually have an account with them and use it for my clients and prospects.  Great idea!  So, uh, you never answered if you mind if I, um, you know, like, steal borrow your idea.
