Ogdensburg New Jersey Best Kept Secret

By
Real Estate Agent with Werner Realty

If you ever drive through the town of Ogdensburg many say don't blink because you'll miss everything that's because county route 517 AKA main street Ogdensburg is a short driving distance which lies between Franklin and Sparta. Ogdensburg is a small family town kinda like May-berry RFD, remember that show! everybody knows everybody. Barney isn't employed here.

But when you live here and finally settle in and start to explore parts of the town. You will discover what most people never get to see, Ogdensburg's Best Kept Secret Heaters Pond. Once you discover this tranquil setting you'll want to be here all the time. I once met a resident there and he said " This place here, is where you'll find all the real people who live in this town."

After living here for a short time I discovered that the entire town or what seems to be, all celebrate there events here. Fourth of July, Veterans day and the tree burning. The tree burning is where all the fireman in the town gather everyones discarded Christmas trees and they schedule a day on the town bulletin board and everyone gets together and watch the tree burning ceremony. Its a wonderful time to get out and meet the people, sip some hot coco and enjoy a tale or two. This is a great town to live in! Here are some pictures of Heaters pond and The War Memorial along with the walkway of remembrance. Hope you enjoy them.

I photographed each brick in the memorial that had writing and I believe it was 202 or 203 bricks.

It is back up again. It goes off line from time to time due to some experiments I run on my server. It is a hobby of mine. I hope to add more stuff soon. I have to find a small problem that I am having as it shuts down on Thursdays do to a cron-job gone awry. I have been to busy too fix it and when I have the time, I get to lazy to care. I will try to remedy it this week but I average two hours of sleep a day and the screen is sometimes the last thing I want to look at. I will try to also get some fishing photos put on there too. I fish off the barrel every weekend with my buddy but taking him lately is starting to feel like a third job.

Your mug came up, but nothing else no photo album here. Have you caught anything out of the pond this year? I don't have much luck there unless i hike through the woods on the other side where the beavers are.

I wasn't keeping an exact count but I guess there to be over 200 bricks with names on them with about 4 or 5 that mention businesses or something else. My neck hurt for about a day after shooting those. The sky was overcast which I like for the even diffused lighting as well as the effect it gives memorials when photographed. I took over 300 photos all together. My poetry book is almost complete for publishing. Now I just have to decide which photos to include in addition to the memorial with bricks. I will be publishing the book through Lulu. The book will have a dedication to those named on the bricks.

Great Pictures! Love the one with the lure on the mirror. Also you got yourself some nice bear prints there. I fished everyone of those shore lines that you show.

The artsy Jeep is the one I am using for the cover. My buddy took the shot during the last bad flood we had and I ran the image through the GIMP (it is an open-source image editing software) and made it fancy.

The lures on the mirror are sort of a tradition with my buddy and me. Every year, we change the mirror lure. We have had lizards, worms and giant spinner-blades. This year it might be flies.

Funny thing about the bear prints is that they were not there when I first went back to the pavilion but were there when I finished taking the pictures.

Don't get me started on the bear. I call them "Corzine's 400 pound dogs". That moron had no business overriding the supreme court decision to allow the hunt and the will of the majority (AKA: the voter).

I practically HAND my garbage to the garbage-men in the morning but I got neighbors that still have not figured out that Corzine's pets come through EVERY Thursday like clockwork for the garbage and then I have to clean up the idiot neighbor's mess because he just has to put it out 2 or 3 days ahead of time.

We have had longer breeding seasons due to warmer weather cycles and with mother bears having more and more cubs to a litter. Sooner or later, Corzine's pets are going to get some one hurt or killed and when it happens, I hope it's him.

This is just the list of KNOWN FATALITIES. This list does not include other bear attacks that did not result in death.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fatal_bear_attacks_in_North_America_by_decade

Just recently, a NJ farmer had a sheep pulled up and over a fence! The sheep is dead and so is the bear after being shot by police.

Prior to that and not listed in that link I gave, a small child was hauled away by a bear that had the kid by the head. That kid died and the bear was later shot by police.

These touchy feel rulings by the NJ czar have not worked in other states that cater to this whack-job minority and they won't work here. The bear does not get saved as it gets shot anyway by police who waste the meat that could have fed a starving family. The bears are killed only after an incident which is guaranteed to happen anyway. I want to slap people when the go on about "BEAR EDUCATION" or "LET'S GIVE THE BEAR CONTRACEPTION"....  Let me lock these morons in a closet with the bear so they can "EDUCATE" them and maybe slip that condom on the bear and I will be back in three days to see how they all made out with Winnie the freaking Pooh.

People should just leave the environmental policies to the people who ACTUALLY KNOW, UNDERSTAND AND USE THE RESOURCE such as farmers and hunters and fishermen.

DEMS PLAN POST-ELECTION BAN ON HUNTING AND FISHING

Release Date: October 24, 2007

DEMS PLAN POST-ELECTION BAN ON HUNTING AND FISHING
Singer Prepares "Sportsmen's Bill of Rights" Amendment to Constitution

Senator Robert W. Singer (R-Ocean/Burlington/Monmouth/Mercer) called upon legislators of both parties to reject plans to enact legislation that would make New Jersey the first state in the nation to ban all hunting and fishing.

“I am heartened that hunters and anglers have taken notice of the plan hatched by the Trenton politicians to ban all hunting in New Jersey after the November election.  Their agenda is out in the open and can be seen by anyone who cares to read the words of this dangerous and extreme legislation,” said Singer.

“They propose to delete language from current law that permits the Fish and Game Council to provide for the use and development of fish and game for ‘public recreation and food supply.’  This language would not only prohibit hunting, but could prevent trout stocking and recreational angling.  This legislation would make New Jersey into an outpost of extremism among the states, where notions of political correctness are allowed to trump decades of sound, science-based and non-partisan wildlife management policies.”

Worse still, this legislation would remove all the sportsmen and farmers from the Fish and Game Council, and potentially replace them with political hacks whose knowledge of

wildlife policy-making is questionable,” said Singer.  “Hunting on farmland is necessary to protect crops and livestock and this legislation prohibits people in the farming community from serving on the revised council.  The bill will effectively preclude the council from controlling excessive wildlife populations that ruin farmer’s crops and threaten their livestock.”

“The supporters of this bill have told the news media that first they intend to outlaw the hunting of bears and then all hunting would be next.  Every sportsman in New Jersey should vigorously work to oppose this bill and hold the sponsors of this legislation accountable for their astonishing lack of good judgment,” said Singer.   “When the Legislature reconvenes, I intend to introduce a ‘Sportsmen’s Bill of Rights’ constitutional amendment that will preserve the right of New Jersey residents to hunt and fish.”

I am not a hunter but, I do belief it is necessary. I do love to fish and can not see the State banning all hunting and fishing activities in the state. There would be to much revenue lost. It is the Hunters and Fisherman  who pay the fees for conservation. Plus what will they do with all the road kill? West Milford, eliminated that service by the road department to remove the dead and the person who though of that bright idea should be shot. It not only stinks but it also attracts the bears for food and detracts from the beauty of the town.
