# Real Estate Math Class : Lesson 70

An investor found two real nice lots near a small private lake that he really liked. The owner said that he would offer him both lots at a nice price. The he wanted 5000 dollars each for the two lots but said that he would take 3000 dollars for the second lot if the investor wanted them both.

A. What was the percentage of the discount on the second lot ?

B. \$3000 is what percentage of the cost of the other lot ?

The answers, along with the corresponding solution, will be posted below the photographs at the bottom of the page, so spend a little time on it before you make your way to the bottom. It helps to keep your math skills sharp. Hope you have a fine week ahead.

A. The second lot was discounted 40%.

Each 1000 dollars of the 5000 dollar lot equals 20% of the total.

If the second lot is discounted by 2000 dollars, that represents 40 % of the total amount.

B. 60%

Again, we apply the same principal as the first answer. If each 1000 dollars represents 20% of the amount of the lot, then 3000 dollars is 60% of 5000 dollars. You can also divide 5000 into 3000 to get .60 or 60%.
