Is it Spam or Good Old American Initiative?

By
Real Estate Agent with Century 21 Beal, Inc College Station, Texas

I posted a comment on a fellow realtors blog this morning.

Not too long after that (same day) I got an email.

The blog post dealt with FSBO's that had expired and I had stated in my comment that I like to

send out mailers.  Well guess what  the person who sent the email sells those and wanted to let me know

about hisservices.  Is this spam or is it just good old American initiative?  After all aren't we all trying to se

sell something here?  But I must say that I was a little irritated.  I didn't come to ActiveRain for more

sales pitches.  Maybe I am not being a good Activerain member but I don't think that is the case.

What do you think?

I have had people go to my website and pretend they are a lead only to find out they were soliciting my business. At first I was irritated as well, but when you think about it they are being creative about finding new leads. Can't really blame people for networking and trying to get more business. I haven't come across it on Active Rain but what better place to find a lot of realtors! I don't get mad, I just delete.....

Hi Brenda,  I get probably 35-45 emails each day from all over the place of people trying to solicit my business, from my website and my blogs.  I have also had people try to sell me things here on Active Rain. Frankly, I get tired of it.  Too much junk!  I suppose it's the American way!!!???????????Take care and have a great week!

Brenda, I agree.  I don't want to be solicited, but, I do wish to read about those good ideas.  I like when they post the information.  Then, you can choose to look into it or not.

It's a Good Life!

I don't mind people calling me or email me because my other business is a marketing & business consulting business, so I like to see what people do to try to make a living. Heck, I'm still addicted to junk mail, finding it quite enjoyable each day to walk down to the mailbox and get my junk.

Just set that spam filter at extra high.  I used to get lots of spam but seems like my filter helps relieve most nowadays.

Diane-  Good advice. Thanks for the comment.

Sandy-  I just have to ask.  Is Sandy Shores your real name?  How memorable!

Fran- I agree but this guy didn't offer anything but a sales pitch.

Rusell-  At least when we get junk mail we know that someone is thinking about us. :)

Susan- I am always interested in land.

Trey- Hey how are you doing?  I don't know if the spam filter would work since he sent it through Activerain.

Brenda, Did you take a look at his Active Rain profile or his blogs? If this is just a sale pitch and not a contributing member, you have the option of deleting his comment.

Next!

I relish the opportunity to do business with people I meet at social and business networking sites to which I belong, and since I have found the great supermajority of people at Active Rain to be Polite, Personable, Positive, and Professional, I would hope that if they have something to sell that they think could help me, I'd like to be contacted so I can have a look at it.
