New Senate Bailout Bill to Cost Us More for Healthcare Also

By

Well, apparantly the Senate is not content to hit those few of us that pay taxes with other higher costs. Their latest 450 page version of the bailout plan also included the requirement for insurance companies to provide mental health treatment—such as hospitalization—on parity with physical illnesses.

I am not against mental heath treatment (I think it needs to start in those hallowed halls in the Capital Building first) however, it does not belong in this bill. Just like other bills that can't get passed on their own merits they have stuck this onto another bill that has a better chance of passing.

They realize that this will cost us more money, both out of our pockets directly and in taxes. But, it doesn't really matter to them it appears.

Hi Mike, You state "I am not against mental heath treatment (I think it needs to start in those hallowed halls in the Capital Building first)"  Very funny comment and very appropriate... I can't believe the poor quality of legislators we voted into office.

It's crap like that that drives me nuts! Why does that have to be slipped in the back door like that?

Mike, Isn't it amazing that a 3 page bill turns in to a 450 page bill with all this extra stuff in it like wooden arrows.

Leave it to DC to turn a "Financial Market Bailout Plan" into a "Hit Me Baby One More Time" plan for the American people.  This makes me want to kick a few of those idoits in the N***.

Mike,

I would pass out if they ever passed a bill without any additions to it.  Hey Congress take the pork out of your bills and pass a clean bill!!

Don - that would be so against character

Susan - I really think that our health care system should be tweaked a bit, but not this way, hidden in some other bill and not in a way that will force our costs up.

Mike,

I hope people are catching on to the fact that the Democrats that voted against the bail out bill did so because many feel it needed to include more regulation and as you point out, more pet projects.
