Happy Birthday Bob Weir

Bob Weir

Bob Weir, best known for being a founding member of the Grateful Dead, celebrates his 61st birthday today.

Weir, a singer, songwriter and musician, is, along with the Grateful Dead arguably the most recorded musician on the planet!

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to meet Weir on numerous occasions and each and every time he was most cordial. Whether it was backstage or poolside, whenever I saw him, Bobby always took the time with whoever came by to talk, share a joke or sign an autograph.

If you’ve never seen Bob Weir in concert, tune in to this video and you’ll see why he’s not only a wonderful rhythm guitarist, but also a beautiful songwriter. Bobby was always credited wit the “Rock n Roll” portion of Grateful Dead concerts. But songs like “Cassidy”, “Weather Report Suite” and “Looks Like Rain” showed his versatility in being able to pen some truly moving music in ballad form.

Currently Bob Weir is playing and touring with his solo band Ratdog.

Happy Birthday Bob Weir!

Laura - I don't know about you, but I'm just getting younger every day! As far as pictures of me in tie-dyes...never going to happen! I traded them in long ago for a suit and tie!

Endre - Thank you! It was a special time for me. One of many I had with the boys in the band! And, yes, it's framed on the wall along with my picture of Mickey Hart and me as well as my picture of Phil Lesh and me!

Happy day,

On a whim I thought I'd test the theory that We are everywhere, and in fact, here We are.  I just saw Ratdog down here in Boca Raton, FL and it was just like it had always been, but different in the same sort of way that only you and I know it could be.  Thanks for sharing the picture!

Jeff - It's true! We are everywhere! Ah, the Mizner Theater show! I've seen Bobby there before. My folks live in Lake Worth and Boca is just a stone's throw away from there.
