Don't Touch The Cuckoo Clock!

By

After months on the market with no interest, the homeowner hired a new agent who called me for help in staging. The property reflected the "eccentricness" of its owner. Lots of stuff. Too much stuff for showings. The owner was overwhelmed, left town and gave us the message to do whatever we needed to do to get the house sold, only don't touch the cuckoo clock. Well, we touched everything else. I like a client with an open attitude like that. Just do it! I appreciate the trust my clients have in my judgement. And I always honor those requests to "not touch the cuckoo clock" Afterall, how do you replace a cuckoo clock?

It is a shame that sometimes buyers cannot see past the sellers tastes in decorating to imagine the property in a different light. Staging is so important, and sometimes it is hard to tell someone that their design choices are not right for everyone.

But I have to know, did you hold your finger about 1 inch away from the cuckoo clock and say "I'm not touching you!"
