Catching a Cup of Coffee with Cindy

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Allegiance, Managing Broker/Branch Vice President

Sometimes you just have to step out of the Social Media web world and interact with your Active Rain friends in the real world.

Like today, I had a morning appointment to show some townhouses in Belmont Bay in Woodbridge, Virginia.  Knowing that my friend and fellow RE/MAX agent and Active Rainer Cindy Jones lives and works in Belmont Bay, I gave her a quck call to see if she was available for a cup of coffee after my appointment.

Cindy said she'd be holding an open house all afternoon at the condos she represents there and I should stop by for some coffee and a chat.  So, after finding my clients a beautiful golf villa overlooking the 16th hole (we'll write a contract this evening), I decided to stop by and see Cindy.

We've been chatting for the last hour, and right now as she shows some potential buyers around the condo model, I'm hanging out in the sales office firing off this quick post.

A few weeks ago, I similarly visited Pat Kennedy at an open house she was holding in Arlington.

Poking people on Facebook, tweeting back and forth, and commenting on each other's posts is always great.

But... seeing your friends in person is even better.

How cool. Most of the NH Active Rainers are spread out so we only get to see each other at state meetings. I wish we could get to know each a little better  face to face.

Brian ~ It's so nice to be able to network with friends and competitors.  We learn so much from each other and when we get to work together things tend to run smooth.  Good for you for making the effort...

Yep, I agree. I've ben trying to get my friends involved in social media, but haven't had much luck. About the only opportunity I've had to mingle with my online friends was at Pat's place last spring. That was fun and I hope the opportunity arises again.

In person is so much sweeter, but thanks to all those social websites, the meet is much more exciting!

Whether you are Gen X, Gen Y or even a Boomer, personal contact is still a requisite to keep your sanity.  Real Estate is and always will be a personal one-on-one business in the end.  Even you you can't see each other physically, using the phone, and altering one's method of communication will enhance any relationship.  Interesting post, and I hope that your buyers actually show up tonight.

Brian, I'm sorry, but you won't find me at an Open House.  We'll have to figure out another strategy...  LOL

Brian Block BloggingBrian Block Blogging in Belmont Bay!  It is a mouthful but worth trying to say three times fast.

It was great to catch up and talk about the market, family, friends and future plans.  Good luck on the offer.  After you left the prospects from yesterday came back for a second look!

See you around the neighborhood.

How wonderful that you have AR members in your back yard to connect with - there are very few in my area (I've only met one, but talked to another).  Having time to meet face to face gives a little push to the relationship that email and online communcation never will!

You mean you went out in to the sun? How was it? Just kidding, I agree that sometimes that is the only way to really be in touch with our Activerain friends. If you can't see them in person, calling them is the next best thing.
