Swimming with the Manatees!

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful get-a-way to sunny Homosassa Florida where we were able to get our minds of the craziness of careers, the economy, the news, election and kids schedules!

This is a picture of my 6'7" husband beside a HUGE Manatee!  If you haven't ever seen one of these amazing slow-moving, non-aggressive, and generally curious creatures I would add it to your 'bucket-list'!  I have seen them so many times but NEVER grasped how HUGE they are until I looked at this picture!  WOW!  You'd ave to see how tall my husband is to really grasp it.

I hope everyone can take a couple of days away to get your minds of the
pressure of the world and enjoy some of Gods amazing creation!

Hey, Deborah. I am so jealous. Maria and I had the chance to swim with dolphins before and had a great time, so I am sure this would be just as awesome. Thanks, Jim

Martine... that is a nice coinsendence!  Haven't heard of that book.

Melissa...I can't imagine swimming with them as a child - they are just the most adorable things.   Do you remember what part of Florida?  This was Homossasa / Crystral River area.  Just beautiful!  Your right they are huge and it is strange...hahaa..so so strange.

Jim...we saw two dolphins while we were out but didn't swim with them.  I can't imagine that either!   Did they swim with you or try and swim away?  My absolute favorite childhood TV show was Flipper.

Mark..where you snorkling or something and not realizing they were there?  Thanks so much!

Thanks for the comments - really appreciate it.

Deb,

I was doing a laps in the canal behind my aunts home when a couple swam by me just 6 feet away. Just glad it was not a bull shark. ;-O
