Welcome To Pennsylvania: "Abandoned" Trucks

By
Real Estate Broker Owner with Erica Ramus - Ramus Realty Group - Pottsville, PA RM420589

I had an out of town couple here looking at properties, and the wife asked me why are so many pickup trucks abandoned on the side of the road here. I had no clue what she was talking about at first. I didn't see any abandoned trucks!

Then I got it -- and told her "Welcome to Schuylkill County during deer season!" Locals park their trucks along the side of the road, and hike into the woods to go deer hunting. We have lots of state gamelands around here!

Sometimes it takes an "outsider" to see what we see every day--to realize how funny it looks.

Yes - We went to the wineries in St. Charles County.  It was dotted with trucks.  It is how I know when deer season starts and ends.  Plus, you see some of the restaurants offering venison stews.  Not a hunter - but I do like the stews.

haha. good point. Either that or they park their car on the side of the road close to an interstate freeway offramp and then carpool with someone else to philadelphia or pittsburg. This is done daily to avoid the hefty tolls.
