Maverick Builder Rule of Failure

The Maverick Rule of Failure is that failure is probable and usual in success!

The main cause of failure is a conflict in agenda between business and ego.  Too many companies try to correct structures and platforms rather than just letting go.  Business feels the need to "reorganize" to pull out of the nose dive.

It would be better to pull the eject cord by recognizing failure early, cutting losses, and moving on!

Some businesses try to manage or make decision with numbers.  Big decisions - many people - one tribe.  Let us gather around the fire and say together "we were all wrong" is less devastating that "I was wrong."

Now repeat after me 3 times:

Do not be afraid of the "F" word.

Do not be afraid of the "F" word.

Do not be afraid of the "F" word.

Failure is probable and usual in success.  I promise it is.  Failure is not a stand-alone partition.  It is a stepping stone toward the next mountain.  It is to be accepted.  It is to be expected.

Business does not hit the target every time.  Tactics, strategies, and goals are not met many times over.  Make failure a part of the process.  Make failure a part of the equation.  Make failure part of the development.  Make failure part of the improvement.  Make failure part of the route.

One last thought on failure.  Failure is propped up by "personal agendas" and "safe decisions".  Innovation can be rejected by management if they will not personally benefit from its success.

Make it a point to take the "u" out of failure and make it a part of your Success.

Maverick Rules!

There are so many people that are afraid of failure so they don't try.  And other that try but only fail because they lack confidence.  I wish I knew at 20 years of age what I know now!

Failure is what makes you stronger and wiser. Learn from it, disect it, study it to death. That is why they have case studies of successes and failures, to learn something. It is not getting knocked down that will determine a winner or loser, it is how many times are you willing to get back up.  Thanks for the great post.

Hi Dave

We all experience setbacks and failures on our success journey, It's what we do about them that creates our success.

Good luck and success

Good Morning Lou,

Action after failure is key.  We have become so ingrained, right from birth in the "do not fail" plot.  We are not taught when we fall to get back up on the bike.  The words "good try" on each attempt are used instead of failure.  Others are scared just to try and never get on the bike or jump in the water.  Fear of failure starts young and is hard to break.

I do believe that there is some "Evil Knevil" in all of us!  Let'er Ride!

Maggie,

Case study is great to expose the myth on failure.  Failure should be an encouragement, a direction, and a stepping stone.  Thanks for the comment!

I have a little Evel in me, but I like to have better odds than he had most of the time.

Jean,

With your perspective on Failure and Action, you should mentor others about failure.  Success and life have 3 steps.  First your LEARN, Next you EARN, and finally you RETURN.

Thanks for the comment.  Dave

Kevin,

Amen brother!  But you have to like his costume and originality.  Both he and Ali were showmen that Barnum and Bailey would love.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Marianne,

God has instructed us about fear and success and gives us the meaning and goals of life in HIS book.  We are all called to become GREAT!  HE promises many times to make HIS people great.  We are to be the Greatest (father, brother, sister, husband, worker, builder, etc) where ever we are called.

How do we become the Greatest, Jesus taught us that in order to be great, you must serve.  Jesus did not say you cannot become great, just the opposite.  Greatness is given to those who humbly serve others and with this Greatness, much is expected by those who serve God!

Failure is a step to Greatness when I serve others along the path.

Thanks for the comment!
