*No Matter Where I Look....I See Green*

By
Real Estate Agent with Homequest Real Estate

I have to admit, until I joined Active Rain , I didn't concern myself with the Green Movement.

The most green that got my attention was ....MoneyThat, plus the fact that green is  my favorite color!

Not that I don't care about the Environment, or Global Warming or Endangered Species. I just didn't think about it too much.... Well being on Active Rain, especially the Echo-All Stars, has changed my sense of observation. I now see Green Everywhere!

NaumkeagFor Example:

This Evening I was reading the local paper The Concord Monitor and a really interesting article about a local Entrepreneur from Canterbury, NH caught my attention. The young man's name is Zachary Bouchard.

Zach is a 2003 Boston College graduate and a Canterbury NH (Merrimack County) native.

Zach gave up a $70,000/year job to persue writing. He wanted to write a book about how Consumers could reduce their echo-footprint (their effect on the environment)This endeavor led to an idea to create a website where consumers can find every echo-friendly product on the market...all in one place

After months of research coupled with Legal advice from Zach's Father....Bridge of Flowers Zach and his Stepfather, Ron Litalien , launched GreenShopper.com They are affiliated with Amazon.com and sell over 15000 products certified as environmentally friendly!

Part of the site is dedicated to educating the consumer on environmental problems, nonrenewable energy, ozone depletion and overpopulation.

This week was their "Launch" so be sure to check them out! Bouchard and Litalien feel that there doesn't have to be conflict between the environment and the economy"They can compliment each other, and we can have economic prosperity by producing and consuming goods that have a small environmental footprint." They have committed to donating 10% of the sites profits to help environmental groups...if successful...in the future they plan to give more!

Joan, I agree -- things are getting more and more green!  I got several emails the past few days with both big and small corporations promoting what they are doing to promote "green."  Even google went "green" for earth day!  I think that there is more awareness than ever before and I am glad to see NH is part of that movement!
