Snow Day in Brandon, MS

It rarely snows in Mississippi, so when it does, it virtually causes all activity to cease. School was either cancelled or dismissed early due to the winter storm that hit central Mississippi today.

Snow in Brandon, Mississippi

Rain, sleet, and snow pelted the Jackson Metro area early this morning, and noon time temperature reached a mere 36 degrees today. It is quite a slushy mess. Bridges are iced over, and a Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 6:00 p.m. today.

Since the southern states are not equipped to handle snow and ice accumulation, it is recommended that you stay indoors unless absolutely necessary to travel.

Tomorrow's projected temperature is expected to return to a Pat Starnes, Metro Jackson, MS Realtormore normal 50 degrees.

Hey Pat I feel really bad for you guys.  We had a light dusting the other day that look very similar to your snow fall.  Be careful down there.  Most people in the south have no idea how to drive on snow or ice.

We don't know how to WALK in it, either, Jack! Thanks for the sympathy. It looks like the snow is melting now. ~Pat

Don't feel bad about not being able to drive in the snow - our interestates are dotted with cars that spinoff the highway after the first snow.  School closed?  I remember when we walked 3 miles to school uphill both ways...
