Maj. General Cucolo III says "It's real, It's going to happen"

The General spoke at the Liberty County Chamber of Commerces "Progress Thru People" Luncheon this month. He talked about the 5th Brigade that is going to be created at Fort Stewart. "Between now and 2013 at least 10,000 more people wll be pouring in here." He mentioned that this brigade that currently doesnt exist is already on the deployment chart and how critical it is to the Army for this brigade to be built. The Commader stressed the need for planning and preparation.

Liberty County is still growing and prospering through even these "tough" times. Because Fort Stewart is our immediate neighbor, we benefit with vast real estate expansion and thriving businesses.

Liberty County is the place to invest, to live, and to grow.

Janie:

I appreciate your view on a "military town."  I grew up as an Air Force brat and so many towns I lived in didn't treat the military or dependents very well.  In some places in THIS country and in foreign countries it was hostile and sometimes violent.  It's great to see a local business person value the business and positive aspects of having the military as a great neighbor.

Thanks again,

Mike

You'd love it here in Hinesville then, Mike! You would not believe the support our community has for our troops.  It feels as if Hinesville is a part of Fort Stewart and vice versa.  The positive attitudes and sense of fellowship literally beams off our city. I am an ARMY brat myself and an ARMY wife (well he's out now). I lived in several other posts and visited many as well. Hinesville is the best place to be for ex-military, retired military, civilian workers, and..well, everyone! Close enough to the beach and far enough from big city rumbles.

Not sure if you watched that awful CNN broadcast that insinuated that Hinesville was blaming Fort Stewart for a ghost town effect.  If you didnt, good because it was a "Spin" like you wouldnt believe.  The shots were of one small subdivision. They didnt show the prospering areas and the growth of downtown.  They did show one little shop that has been vacant for years, and was not in any way representative of our city's economy. We are not a ghost town and we LOVE our soldiers. Gen Cuculo III is praised all the time because he is well known for his compassion for our community. That news broadcast has proven to me that you REALLY cant believe anything you see on the news. You know, they shouldnt call it "news", they should call it dramatic interpretations.
