The moments...

"Your laws ignore our deepest needs, Your words are empty air.
You've stripped away our heritage, You've outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms, And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere, And ask the question "Why?"
You regulate restrictive laws, Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,That God is what we need!"

Confessions of a Stressed Out Mom: Darrell Scott's Testimony....a MUST read

Yesterday,  I noticed that a few bloggers took a "One Day of Silence"  in honor of the victims at Virginia Tech.

Here is what I plan to do - I won't be silent about it.

I can honestly say that thankfully my family or people close to my family have never been involved with such tragedies like Columbine, World Trade Center and now Virginia Tech.  BUT, each one of these tragedies has changed me as a person and changed how I think.   I become enraged - I can not understand how "things" keep slipping by us.

Just stop - have we all become so engrossed with so many issues around us that we have not or we don't take notice of children who need our help?  Do we not see the enemy planning attacks on us?  Have we become so out of tune with what is going on right in front of us?

Have we become so ignorant to the values that our children need?  Have we let law makers decide what is better for OUR own kids?

I am no Preacher - that is for sure.  But, yesterday while I was standing on line at a CVS, a little girl behind me in line had asked her father if he would go on a Field trip with her and her class next week.  She was so busy telling him that the permission slip is at home in her book bag and "please, please please Daddy - can you take a day off from next Thursday?"  While she was talking to her father she was jumping and was really bouncing out of her skin.  His quick reply of "No, I can't I have to work darling - You like nice things don't you?" Made me fill up with tears - as well as his daughter.

Think about it.... Do our kids really prefer NICE THINGS over a school trip (time) with Mom or Dad?

One of the things that I'm most grateful about being in real estate and mortgages is that I've always made my own schedule.  When my daughter was in pre-school and they had a dance recital at her school with punch and cookies afterward, she looked around at the room full of moms and said, "Daddy, you're the only Daddy here!"  You could tell that she was proud of that fact!

Awwwww Bob - That is actually one of the reasons why I started in Real Estate - the flexibility that I thought I would have.  Granted - I can be somewhat flexible, but I find that I sometimes do have to work - when I want to play.  BUT - I do put my kids first and front of all obligations!
