Code of Honor...Do You Have One?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Exit Beach Realty BK645709

Let's see, member of the National Association of Realtors, Florida Association of Realtors and the Daytona Beach Association of Realtors.  OK, we have the Florida Real Estate Commission,  the Realtor Code of Ethics, our Board Rules and Company Policy, I think you get the message.  Lots of rules but what about MY CODE OF HONOR?

I will always educate and encourage homeownership and all the benefits that come with it.  It is my responsibility as a Realtor to preserve my profession as I truly believe what I do is a true and honorable service.

I know in my heart it is a privilege to work with a customer, therefore I will value them, all of them.

I  will walk away from a customer if they are working with another agent.  Why, it's the right thing to do!

I live by the golden rule! Cooperation. Violate a law or rule or try to entice me to do either. Plain and simple, I'll report you, that way I will do a service for my entire profession

Regardless of how rude or obnoxious a co-operating broker is, I will do my job and do it objectively.

I will tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!  Every human being on the planet deserves it!

Every decision I make in a transaction will always be in the best interest of my customer.  I know if I treat my customer right, income will follow!

I believe our main focus should be on problem solving and finding a solution.  Why the heck do you think the public needs us?

I believe that it's our responsibility to educate the public.

We set the trends and spend all our time in the trenches.

Who better than us to report the FACTS!

I believe it is my responsibility to continually educate and train.  My objective is always to do the very best I can.

I believe that I must participate in various activities, volunteer activities, I have a voice and I am going to use it.

I believe in balance.

Personally and professionally my life must be fulfilling, otherwise I will not be able to give the quality service that every single customer deserves!

Do you walk the walk and talk the talk, going above and beyond the call of duty?  The real question is do you have high standards?  Your own personal policy, how about a Code of Honor?

Alexander-I did place it in the group but not for the stars, I didn't realize there was a limit of how many groups you can post to.  It does make sense to post it there!  I am going to read the guidelines again as originally I wasn't sure if it should be posted there.  Thanks again my friend.

Hi Neal!

Larry-Thank You!  We all should walk the walk and talk the talk.  I appreciate you stopping by and reading!

Gary-Character is so important in our business, I agree that we can never talk enough about what we do right.  Yes, I agree with you on the bigger world as well.  Your mind must be open to see that pic.  Thanks for stopping by Gary and I appreciate your comments.

Sometimes it's hard for me to keep emotion out....I have been told by some that I went above and beyond....and am a family friend.  I suppose those are the rare ones.

Sally-I know its hard to keep emotion out, we can feel as the customer does we just can't make decisions based on it, keep your focus on what you are trying to accomplish or the task at hand.  I have learned to walk away and come back to things, take a deep breath before I speak and always always put the other party in my shoes and me in theirs.  As long as I do not let my emotion determine what I am going to do next, I know that everything will be alright.  It's hard in this business because people sometimes disregard our profession.

Wow Midori- I'm impressed!  What an incredible read!  I've often too thought of putting something together for my clients, but my office actually has one that I thought was well written and simply attach that to my listings or buyer rep agreement.  I'm considering writing my own now! Great Job!

Melissa-Thank You! You could say it is my own personal mission, everyone should have one and live by one.  Most companies have one including the one I work for.  You should write your own if feel compelled to do so.  I believe it will empower you and help you to always do the right thing. It helps me........ thanks for stopping by, I always appreciate other's feedback.

Midori - I love your simple yet comprehensive statement.  It's what we think but rarely put down on paper.  Over my desk I have one of those "successories" plaques, one with "integrity" on it, given by a friend.  I should share that with others.

If only people could understand that most of us really care, actually get emotional when we make there dreams come true. I don't know how many of us there are left but I actually still get a tear in my eye when I hand a buyer there new keys. Following the code only makes our lives easier, it's to bad others don't feel that way.
