What Would You Do With A Ten Pound Chocolate Bar?

By
Home Stager with Sharon Tara Transformations

My husband came home tonight with a ten pound chocolate bar...some kind of promotion.  It is huge, the biggest candy bar I've ever seen.   He has opened it up and tried breaking off a piece...you need a hammer and chisel to break it up.  It is one and a half inches of solid chocolate.  It says on it that it has a shelf life of one year.  Well, that's good, because if we start now, it will probably take that long to eat through it.  Does anyone really need this much chocolate?

Before California's very restrictive SB 133 prohibiting all kinds of promotional stuff from title companies, my company used to receive a HUGE chocolate bar from one of them for Christmas, along with a small chisel to enable us to break off a piece.

That chocolate bar didn't last 15 minutes. If you want, you can send it my way. My office thanks you!

Hi Sharon, I made some extremely delicious chocolate cover strawberries last weekend for company. I know that doesn't solve your problem but it would take a small dent out of that BIG bar! Yum :)

Denise:  A skil saw is a great idea!  Sure beats banging it against the granite counter!

Pacita:  I'm sure you miss your extra Christmas gifts, that's a shame!  I wish ours had come with a chisel.  He broke off a large ziplock baggie full and took it into work this morning.  I'm sure we won't have any problem finding volunteers to help us consume it.  Thanks.

Glad I didn't win that, I have a weakness for chocolate and probably wouldn't stop till I was sick!

Cynthia:  Chocolate covered strawberries sound wonderful.  I'm sure we will be melting down some of it and using it for desserts.

Josh:  I've made myself sick many times with too much consumption!  My biggest weakness is sweets.  I think I will be ok with this though because it is too much work to break it up.

Fernando and Dora:  You both made me laugh!  It sounds like you each have pretty serious chocolate issues!  Have you seen "Chocolat" the movie?  There is a scene where the guy locks himself in with all the chocolate and eats himself unconscious...I remember thinking when I saw it, that could be me.  So far the bar is still on the kitchen counter and each day my husband hammers away a section.  We have given some away and we have been nibbling here and there.  No one has gotten sick yet.

Sharon, I would have a year of chocolate chunks to add to cookies...AND I'd be dipping a few pieces into peanut butter, my favorite way to eat chocolate! Lucky you!

Debbie:  Dipping into peanut butter, now that is a great idea!  Thanks.  I may wait until the whole contaminated peanut butter thing passes, though!

Heather:  We actually melted a large amount of it, added raisins and nuts, spread it out on a cookie sheet, and then put it in the freezer and hardened it.  We broke it up into pieces and have been eating it that way.  Delish!
