I can't believe I'm 63....   OUTRAGEOUS!

I'm so old I can remember black and white TV, Howdy Doody and those 3-D movie glasses.  Why is it I still feel like 16 and going to the prom in my white sports jacket..  When I was a kid anyone over 25 was ancient.  Many of us in my age group can still recall how old their grandparents looked when they were 63.

Is it just me, or are older people looking younger these days..dressing younger...and thinking younger.  My grandparents were kindly folk, but WOW did they ever look old.  There were always fresh baked cookies when ever we'd go to visit.  I don't think my grandfather ever owned a car.  He wore baggy pants and a red checkered shirt.....and always had a nickel for me to buy penny candy down at the corner store.  A nickel was really something in those days when I was 7 or 8.

I still have that youngster feeling.  I hope it never leaves.  We've just spent the weekend with our grand kids.  I'm sure they look upon my good wife and me as ancient beings from another dimension....but I also hope they see us as being pretty cool for old folks.

Whenever they visit we try to do young people stuff and we feel younger because of it.  Today the "nickel" has been replace by "$10."     Inflation I suppose.

Keeping "the kid" alive in all of us allows us to feel more active and with it.   We still dress young, have a great many hobbies, cultivate good friends and spend quality time in activities that get us out enjoying life.   We exercise and eat good meals.   Age after-all is just a number....  It's how you feel and act that's most important.  The younger you see yourself as.....the younger you'll feel.

I choose an age that best suits my own personality......and that age is 27.    My wife's chosen age is 25.   So....we do fun things a 25 or 27 year old might do.   Our parties, concerts, activities, clothes, dancing, speech etc. etc. all have a hint of today about them.

In my humble opinion, it's ok to be ancient in numbers......but it's a wise person who keeps current with today's trends despite his/her advanced years.

Can someone tell me what "Totally Rad Dude!" really means?? (Just kidding.)

David,

I am a few years younger than you and remember those things too....that makes you younger.

David. the other day we watched several "Hogan's Heroes" episodes that were digitally remastered and on cable.  They never looked so good, and funny too.

David,

I will be 63 in July and I don't feel old, mentally, but can not do as much, physically!  Great post.
