MY FIREPLACE "RE-DO" BEFORE AND AFTERS

By
Home Stager with HOME STYLE AND STAGING LLC

Thought that I would share with you a LITTLE project that I did last weekend. My fireplace was brick (ugly colored brick) so thought that I would jazz it up alittle...I primed the brick with Kilz, that was a pain..The brick was uneven and gaps between the brick so had to use a very small paint brush...took forever...

So here is the end result...I am really proud of it and think that the outcome was worth the work !!! The photo is alittle dark...but it is painted a semi-gloss black...  Now I have to find a fireplace screen..Thought of taking this off and painting..what do you think ???

Did you know they had the Kilz primer in a spray can . . . perfect for this type of rough project.  It is a little more expensive, but worth it for some jobs!

Very nice Mary Lou! I recently took my brass fireplace screen off, and sprayed it black with heat resistant spray paint. I think though that if you paint yours, it might look nicer with a soft dark gray (not black), something similar to the color of the mat on the picture above the screen. Love the stark black and white pillows and padded seating area. Isn't it amazing what a difference a little bit of effort can make?

Definitely paint the screen.  Pewter is a great choice!  Funny how we spend so little time on our own homes, isn't it :)  Good for you.

Painting the fireplace was a good move and nicely done. I also agree with painting the screen.
