On January 27th, Governor Pawlenty unveiled his state budget proposal for the next biennium (a two year budgeting period including fiscal years 2010-2011). Major components of his proposal include:

The governor proposes to increase to K-12 education funding and expand the Q Comp performance pay system, reduce the spending rate for health and human services programs, encourage state and local government reform, reduce aids/credits (mostly to local governments) by 15.3%, modify the renter's property tax refund formula and increase the homeowner's property tax refund program.

The governor also proposes that the state conform to SOME of the federal tax provision adopted in the Housing and Economic Recovery Act and the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. For a very detailed look at the governor's budget: http://www.mmb.state.mn.us.
