Today's question to the ActiveRain Help Desk comes from Tony Anderson with Century 21 Community Realty In Northeast Georgia, serving clients in Habersham, White, Banks, and Hall Counties.

Tony writes:

How do I get My Profile to show up in the other cities or counties that I service?  For example I service White County in GA.  I want My Profile to show up in that county.  There are no agents servicing that area on ActiveRain.

The way that our platform is currently configured, you can only have your profile registered in one State, County, and City. Obviously, you will want to select whichever one best represents your primary market.

Perhaps the best strategy for effectively marketing your blog to multiple counties/cities is to consistently contribute good, quality local-oriented content that is specific to each area, and tag/categorize them accordingly. Well-crafted monthly market reports are a prime example. In Tony's situation, he could create monthly market reports for Habersham, White, Banks, and Hall Counties. He could geo-target them accordingly for Localism, and push the content to the relevant County/city community pages on Localism as well. You want to make sure that each article contains good relevant key search terms that are specific to each market area - i.e., Habersham County GA Real Estate, etc..

Create a disciplined schedule/strategy of balanced writing that targets your primary market counties/cities. This way you create archives of great content that are specific to each market area you serve, and will show up in consumer searches.

Rich - makes sense in terms of how one can target various different areas !  On a side note, we need help for our blog.  Our RSS feed is not sending out our blog to our subscribers and it makes us worried. It all started since we upgraded our outside blog.  Also, listing router traffic just stopped out of nowhere... the numbers are grey.  HELP : )

I've found that good keywording combined with consistency in posting about an area/town/etc. will get me the results I need.

It's best to put your profile in the largest city in the area as that's what most people will search for, and then do the local content on the smaller areas for Google.

Hi Rich!  I noticed that a few people left our area to go to a neighboring one that had less 'competition' and probably better served their area.  I think that, from what I've seen, it's been a plus for them to focus on their niche instead of trying to associate with a county which they don't know as well as theirs simply because of the name recognition or size.  (Did that make any sense?)!

Hi Rich, That is a wonderful explanation to a great question. Come to think of it, of all the questions I recall reading, this one was not asked very often. But I am glad to read the response as it reflects the opportunities ( Google Juice) we all have here in the Rain.

The long tail has been getting some good coverage for a bit now and I'm thankful that months ago someone pointed this out to me.   It is a great way to market for multiple areas and give the consumer what they want:  Information and advice.

Rich, Tony, this was once a question of mine also. I want to market to other counties other than the one I live in. I have found that if you choose your particular "key phrase" as in xyz Real Estate and you concentrate your writing that direction then Google will listen!

I am being placed strategically within the counties I want even when my profile isn't. Individual blog posts will rate also.
