I still prefer "Made in America"

We have not bought or owned a vehicle made in another country since getting married 33 years ago. Am I proud of that. Yes because I still believe that the best products in the world were made here for years and still can be.

What got me to thinking about this domestic product thing was what we are all going through right now....a very trying economy. As small as it may seem  if we all will concentrate on purchasing what few products are still manufactured here in the USA ......I do believe it would help a little with the job loss situation.

This afternoon I opened a box of fence staples . We are constructing an animal proof fence around our garden right now.  As I was emptying the staples out of the box I noticed about every 5th one  was deformed and abnormal. In other words TOTALLY USELESS!

Yep you guessed it.  Made in another country and sold by a large retailer here in the USA.  This kind of incident is true with so  many of the products made in other countries these days.

Later in the afternoon I decided to take a break and go target shooting with my 22 rim fire. So I grabbed a new box of shells  and went to the back 40.......and it happened again!  Yep about ever 20th round was a dud! Just like a bad roll of Chinese firecrackers. I didn't even want to look at the box and see where these were manufactured. I can only imagine.

I just hope our men in uniform are not relying on products from other countries to defend this one.

Buy American Please!

Trey - Most every clothing item I pick up in a department store lately is coming out of China!  Most shocking was a prescription medication which I picked up at my local pharmacy.  Right under the main label, it states it was manufacturered in China.  I remember when Bush was president, he put the cabosh on folks trying to get their meds from Canada to save money!  I agree with you - I would like to see more items manufacturered in this country.  Alas, it's often a very blurred line.  For instance, Toyotas are assembled here in the United States, they are sold at dealerships which employ our citizens, and serviced by them also.  On the other hand, many of our "American" cars are assembled with parts from Mexico, some are assembled in Canada, and replacement parts can come from anywhere!  Buying American, isn't as absolute, or as easy as it once was!

I am noticing that too about clothing. I have a couple of  sport shirts made in USA that are 20 years old and still look and wear great. It is tough on the auto situation.. but the idea is to have the jobs here.

Buy U.S.A. and support our country is a good rule of thumb. No more China -Support Our Country and let's get back to basics. Bring home those jobs that overseas  and give our folks a job.
