New to Facebook

Hello!  I am finding that in growing my business, I am wading knee deep in unchartered territory when it comes to social marketing.  I know this is the wave of the future and know also that I need to be a part of it.  I am technically above many people, but when it comes to social marketing, I didn't get involved because I didn't think it was necessary.

If anyone would care to help me get started with FB, I'd really appreciate any help I can get.  I do have an account, but I need to create a business account.  I'm still uncertain about Yahoo groups (that some community sites use).  Then there's Twitter, FaceBook, and others.  How many of these accounts can one person have and honestly manage?  My goal was not to sit behind the computer and "chat".  Is all of it really necessary, or must we be selective in what groups we use?  I just don't want to get into a hole with having to open all these different accounts, get busy and not keep up with them, then get frustrated.

Is there a logical plan in how people use these sites?  And how does one work it into their daily plan and implement all the other internet marketing strategies I'm learning about?  Can you tell I'm becoming overwhelmed??

Thanks,

Cathy

Cathy, there is a great online course that is being offered by one of the Active Raim members that will help you navigate all of this.  I'll find the link and PM you.

That would be great!  Thanks so much.  I've been researching all these new terms and buzz words.  Now I have a better idea of what things mean -- just where to go with it and when is a new experience that has no words......

I felt that way a few months ago, but I am quickly getting the hang of it.  Check out my page Tewksbury MA Realtor.  It is very confusing at first but play around with it.  You can automatically get your AR Posts to show up on your facebook account.  There are also many applications to feed from twitter and so on.

Thanks Kevin!  I need to get my business page done and just click away to see where everything is and where pages lead to other things.  I haven't done that yet.  cd

I just go slow and learn by trial and error.  When I works I try to stay with it, if it's to cumbersome or doesn't click, I go another way.  I've found that some parts work better than others.  FB is a great social networking site and by connecting with past high school friends I did hook up with a referral source from half way across the country.  So as far as I am concerned it's a winner.

Good luck.

I'm with Margaret.  I tend to go slow and learn by trial and error.  I got my first Facebook referral for listing yesterday.  It was from a past business associate.  I don't have a "business account" yet.  I've only been on FB 3 or 4 weeks.  I plugged into past business assoicates, friends, clients (that I've stayed in close touch with) and now high school friends are finding me.
