10 reasons NOT to hire that Realtor – Fire their butt.
    • They don’t answer your phone calls.
    • They don’t have any good reason why you should hire them.
    • They don’t have any references or proof of any sales history they can show you.
    • They don’t appear to like their job.
    • They don’t appear to like your house.
    • They can’t think of any buyers who might be interested.
    • They never give you any feedback.
    • They work another job – not a full-time agent.
    • They don’t do what it takes to get things done.
    • They are the cause for your missed showings – no showing service!

    What else would you add to this list?

    This is only a short list of things I've personally witnessed from other agents in and around League City, Texas!

It looks like you covered the whole ball of wax!  Think only thing you could add is that some realtors like to tell the customer what they want to hear, not what they need to know!

I agree this is quite a list.  A few days ago I spent 30 min trying to run down an agent to tell him I had a client who wanted to put an offer on their property.  The agent did not have an answering service and no email.  It was odd...

Ernie and Barb - Great point... Sure you can sell your home for $50,000 higher than it's worth!!!

Marcie - I had it when there are no pictures and many details are missing!  What's worse than no pictures??  Really aweful pictures!

Vanessa - Yeah, I feel your pain.  I have tried to set up appointments for my buyers this week.  No fewer than 5 homes now had agents that did not return my calls.   I called their brokerage offices and go through to nobody... A complete inability to make the appointments happen - they didn't use showing services!!!  uggghh!  But when you can't get an agent to be responsive when you have an offer for them, that's pathetic.

Not returning phone calls is the biggest pet peeve I have.  There is nothing worse than not returning a phone call.  It shows the highest disrespect for others.  Always return a phone call even if you do not have an answer yet.

Kari - I know how you feel... I'll return your call if you call me!

Kent - Just people who aren't Realtors that talk nonstop about themselves... their achievements, etc... You have to listen to find out what people want to know.  What are you going to do for them is hugely important!!!

Brian, this is a great list and it should be in all professional agents listing presentation! Of course those of us who detail those points to our motivated sellers usually get the job!

I would add a realtor who talks more than listens. I believe it was Bernard Baruch who once said "

Most of the successful people I've known are the ones who do more listening than talking."

Caren - Sure do... but the ones who don't live up to the expectations they set should get the axe!

Lyvia - Excellent point.  I agree totally.  I think of the list I created as the minimum level of service.  The great agents will absolutely listen, but this seems to be a rare quality!
