Consolidating All The New "Green" Grant & Rebate Programs

By
Real Estate Agent with Remax Services

I don't know if anyone else feels the same as me, but I'm having a hard time keeping up with all the new information for home-buyers regarding Green Grants & Rebate Programs.

I know things vary from state to state, but which ones are universal?

I know there is a rebate for going all solar, as well as tank-less water heaters.

Does anyone know about what types of rebates are offered when you buy energy efficient appliances?

What about impact resistant, energy efficient windows and doors?

If everyone can share the information they have, I will put up another blog post consolidating it into one place.

Thanks to everyone in this Green Forum!!!!

If there isn't a site. maybe contacting some national associations or local unions might help...how about builders that tout themselves as green for a source ?

If you get a good response to this it might be a good post to have all the information available and then keep it updated.  The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has a rebate of up to $250 for energy efficient appliances.  Although it took them over 4 months to get me the rebate (they claimed to not have anymore funds in the buhet) I did get it and it was one of the main reasons I decided to upgrade.

Stephanie,

I know that federal tax credits for energy efficiency are available at 30% of the cost, up to $1500, in 2009 & 2010 ( for existing homes only ) for:

  • Windows & Doors
  • Insulation
  • Roofs (Metal & Asphalt)
  • HVAC
  • Water Heaters (Non Solar)
  • Biomass Stoves

Federal tax credits for energy efficiency are also available at 30% of the cost, with no upper limit through 2016 (for existing homes and new construction) for:

  • Geothermal Heat Pumps
  • Solar Panels
  • Solar Water Heaters
  • Small Wind Energy Systems
  • Fuel Cells

Thanks for your responses.

Joseph, would it be your accountant who would have the forms available to submit these tax credits.

Where were you able to find this information?

Simon, Florida really needs to catch onto what people are doing in other states....I feel as though were a little behind.
