Geoffrey I. Kanner graduated from the University of Connecticut and then served five years on active duty in the U.S. Air Force as a captain with the Strategic Air Command. Geoff entered the financial services industry in 1986. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM Professional (CFP® Professional), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Registered Financial Consultant (RFC), Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and CIC Certified Insurance Consultant.
To maintain his various professional designations, continued education is required annually enabling Geoff to remain current on changes in the various laws, procedures and technological advancements that relate to the financial industry. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), Society of Financial Service Professionals (SFSP) and The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). He is a past president of NAIFA of Greater New Haven and NAIFA of Connecticut.
Geoff is a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary where he has held various leadership roles. He is currently qualified as an instructor and crew member. He frequently serves on safety patrols on Long Island Sound with other USCGA members and teaches boating safety courses. Geoff is a Justice of the Peace in his hometown and is married, resides in Hamden with his wife Maribeth and their three children, Stacey, Eliza and Noah.
