Images of spring in Los Angeles via blooming Trees. Most people do not realize that Los Angeles is not just high rise buildings.

 Jacaranda trees in Bloom

The colors of these blooming trees are some of the most beautiful, almost breathe taking. If you come to Los Angeles for the first time in May, you will be pleasantly surprised at the various trees in full bloom.

Canter's Deli a Los Angeles Institution! A Must Visit & Eat there Destination Place
Endre Barath, Jr., Realtor - Los Angeles Home Sales 310.486.1002 (Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices)

Canter's Deli a Los Angeles Institution. If you have been there then you know what I mean. If you have never been than you must schedule a time. Lucky for you they are open 24hrs and 7 days a week, so you do not have an excuse about the time constraints.

If you decide to eat at the Restaurant section, make sure you bring your appetite. I am not exaggerating the sandwiches are half a foot or higher. If you have been craving for a great corned beef or pastrami sandwich, Canter's is the place. My favorite is the matzo ball soup, bigger than a Major League Approved Baseball, soft and moist as a good matzo ball should be.

Now if a sit down meal is not in your schedule, than check out the take-out counter, there are always five or six people in front of you. They have everything the restaurant has to offer and then some. I love their lox as well as their pickles.

More often I just run in to get their pastries, the best value for your money is their oversized tastiest Macaroon you ever had and if you want to be decadent then get the chocolate covered ones.

Keep in mind there is a different crowd after midnight LA's who is who can be found from the Rock Stars to the many other celebrities that are out after the bewitching hour.

Now if you love history, then you will be impressed that Canter's has been serving  Los Angeles since 1931 to famous regulars such as Elizabeth Taylor, John Travolta, Prince, Muhammad Ali, Henry Winkler and Rodney Dangerfield to name a few.

Buyers Beware When Considering Buying Foreclosures
Endre Barath, Jr., Realtor - Los Angeles Home Sales 310.486.1002 (Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices)

Buyers Beware When Considering Buying Foreclosures!

All first time home  buyers should be very cautious when considering buying a Bank Foreclosed Property(REO). Many people get excited that they want to hit the jackpot by buying a Foreclosed home. Needless to say there are some truly great opportunities out there.

At the same time common sense should prevail. Do the research about the neighborhood, schools and market prices. Do inspect the home; banks are not required to let you know about defects. Have your financing ready.

Be prepared that the banks have priced the home generally a great deal under market value; hence it will not be a buyer's market when it comes to the property. Be prepared to be in a multiple offer situation.  Banks do not negotiate with Counter Offers. Submit your best and final offer in the beginning, then just hope for the best that you will get the property.

If there are few foreclosed properties in the neighborhood do not think you will get the property for pennies on the dollar, be happy that you may get it for less then market value.

The goal should be that you like the home and you want to live there not to hit the Jackpot. Do not buy impulsively, after all this will still be one of your largest dollar value purchases in your lifetime.

Contact a Realtor, someone who is seasoned and can walk you through the challenges of the purchase. Keep in mind with these tips you will come out as a winner.

Light My Fire, the largest collection of hot sauce in LA and the World (not the song)
Endre Barath, Jr., Realtor - Los Angeles Home Sales 310.486.1002 (Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices)

The Farmer's Market in Los Angeles, has been evolving, changing  and reinventig itself over the past seventy five years (75). Millions of people, who have visited this favorite tourist destination consisted of the   the famous, the infamous as well as the ordinary people who have come and gone, they all have left with many fond memories. In the past 17 years one of the most favorite destination places has been "Light My Fire". 6333 W 3rd St Ste 212, Los Angeles, CA  90036. (323)930-2484

This small cubicle of a place holds at least a thousand if not more, different hot sauces from all around the globe. Some have been named after Celebrities, Politicians or just different Titles which conjure up various levels of heat in the potential buyer.

There are connoisseurs of ‘heat' who come here to buy a hot sauce, which they are unable to buy anywhere else. Then you get the novelty collectors that just want to have a specific bottle not for consumption, rather just for display in their kitchens. Then there are the friends and family who want to buy a novelty present for their loved ones.

Even the ones who wonder in accidentally can not help themselves and buy on impulse.

Young Min and her husband opened this little Stall in 1998 in the Farmers Market. As I mentioned, the selections are phenomenal. The hot sauce bottles are stacked floor to ceiling. There is a bottle for every one, as well as every one's budget. The cost conscious can buy a hot sauce for $0.99 as well as the affluent to which money is more abundant there are bottles of hot sauce all the way to $500.00.

Make sure  to put this worth while destination on your things to do list for your next trip to the Grove and specifically the Farmer's Market.

Real Estate Market in Los Angeles
Johnny Burke (Keller Williams Realty)
I received an email today from a prospective buyer stating how he and his family are looking for a home in Los Angeles. He also mentioned how there are ‘bargains' to be found here. Is it because of the headlines of "Mortgage Meltdown" and "Record Foreclosures" spell discounts for home buyers? Not necessarily. The areas where homeowners are currently receiving a Notice of Default, (Palmdale, Riverside, etc.) are the areas that have seen price declines. Every time there is a foreclosure in these areas, a home is sold for less than it would otherwise, so it then becomes a "comp", ultimately affecting the value of the neighborhood. At the moment, there are very few foreclosures in desirable areas of Los Angeles, therefore prices have remained stable in these areas. The current sentiment reminds me of the cocktail party anecdote; when a stockbroker is surrounded by partygoers offering their opinion of the market, he will take a contrarian approach and do the opposite. So what does a prudent buyer do now? wait for prices to go lower, or admit they are probably not savvy enough to pick the market bottom and buy a home now, in the slow season while interest rates are still historically low? what would you do?
