Ringing & Singing in the Rain Lottie Kendall Real Estate San Francisco, CA After playing telephone tag for a few days, the connection with Lottie Kendall finally came about this morning AND it was great fun! Although it always amazes me how much we have in common when I am in touch with AR members, it probably shouldn't. After all, we each individually chose to participate in the 'Rain, right? We have whatever commonality drew us here as a base for forming an acquaintanceship. Lottie lived and worked in San Carlos, CA for decades. While her office is still there (and one office at home of course!), Lottie moved to the Pacific Heights area of San Francisco with her husband of 19 years. Their offspring were out of the house and Lottie said, "I was at that point where I needed something new in life." She and her husband are avid hikers so the next step was simple:  Hike to look at other living options ... "What do REALTORS do on their day off?" Lottie asked me. "Right, go to Open Houses! So we put on our hiking boots. For a few Sunday afternoons, we hiked around San Francisco attending many Open Houses. "When we saw this condo, we knew immediately that it was the right place for us.  The location was ideal for us. Yet we weren't ready to move at that time. After a several weeks knowing it was too soon, my husband suggested we just get it anyway! We contacted the agent/owner and made a deal. We are so happy we did! "Since we weren't ready to move, we rented for a time. Now here we are - thriving with the City lifestyle as we enjoy the views of the Bay throughout all the changing weather conditions." Lottie said her three top benefits from ActiveRain were: 1. "All the technology lessons available for members and product reviews     to help narrow down choices2. "Learning how different real estate practices and markets were across    the US and Canada3. "Most of all, the Networking and Friendships made in the 'Rain." Lottie said that the referral options within AR offer her flexibility. "I don't work on the West side of the Bay. There is only so much driving a person can do! When Clients need representation over there, having AR members to suggest is wonderful. Every time I do that, the Clients get extra special attention from the 'Rain member."When asked how she started in AR in 2008, Lottie said that "leaving a three-year real estate coaching situation left me open for a substitute support system.  I went looking for a place to hear about real estate from other professionals and was immediately attracted when I got to ActiveRain. I loved how people share so freely in the 'Rain. I 'lurked' for a while, then made a few comments here and there before ever trying to write a post."And that's how Lottie got to where she is now - less than 50,000 points from being a Millionaire in the 'Rain! "I am so busy now - I hardly have free time to blog. Not complaining really - no one should complain about the good fortune of having plenty of Clients -  just miss those frequent visits to ActiveRain!" Lottie specializes in San Francisco, the Silicon Valley and San Mateo Cunty including the towns of Belmont, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Carlos, San Mateo and Sunnyvale. "I love ActiveRain referrals so anyone needing help in my areas is welcome to contact me for their Clients at any time!" I certainly enjoyed my time visiting with Lottie Kendall. Mayhem Mansion, Haunted Halls of Horror in San Francisco The Haas-Lilienthal house, located on Franklin Street between Washington and Jackson, is a beautiful example of a Queen Ann style Victorian house. Heat wave in San Francisco
Lottie Kendall, Serving San Mateo County and San Francisco (Today | Sotheby's International Realty)
Much of our San Francisco Bay Area is experiencing a heat wave. Temperature in Los Altos, in the heart of the Silicon Valley, was 93° at 5:00 PM, to the delight of some of my friends. Here in San Francisco, we reveled in more moderate temperatures in the high 70s° . Now, at 8:00 PM, the thermometer across the street still reads 76°. Just the evening to walk up to Whole Foods, then on to beautiful Lafayette Park, perched high on a knoll in Pacific Heights to enjoy a picnic overlooking the Spreckels Mansion and San Francisco Bay. The setting sun, the warmth in the air, the sounds of children playing, enjoying the dogs frolicking with each other or walking sedately on leashes, seeing people enjoying their picnics, hearing laughter and seeing smiles -- all reminders of why this park is one of my favorite spots in which to relax, and why Living my San Francisco Dream is so perfect for me. It might be for you, too! --- Just another benefit of living in and around San Francisco! Gardening in a thirsty state: trees on Jackson Street, San Francisco
Lottie Kendall, Serving San Mateo County and San Francisco (Today | Sotheby's International Realty)
Gardening in a thirsty state like California creates unique challenges, but also encourages and allows for some beautiful results. Take, for instance, the street trees along this block of Jackson Street in the Pacific Heights area of San Francisco. I believe they are a type of Arbutus, and take very little watering. Birds are attracted to the fruit and clusters of small greenish white flowers that appear in fall and winter. One of the unique beauties of the trees, like their cousins the California native madrone trees, is the beauty of the bark. Lush green lawns and weeping willow trees have their own beauty, but it's not a beauty suited to our Mediterranean climes. Luckily, there are equally beautiful plants for us to enjoy here, while saving our dwindling water supply. --- Just another benefit of living in and around San Francisco! Living the San Francisco Dream - Issue #3
Lottie Kendall, Serving San Mateo County and San Francisco (Today | Sotheby's International Realty)
Today’s issue of Living the San Francisco Dream focuses on the Pacific Heights area of the city. On days like today—warm, sunny and picture-perfect—Pacific Heights draws one like a magnet. This is the type of day when a picnic lunch at Alta Plaza or a chat with a friend in Lafayette Park is almost irresistible. The calendar might say “February” but spring is definitely in the air. This neighborhood in the northern part of the city is known for fabulous views, grand mansions, and two recently refurbished and renovated knoll-top parks. The shopping areas of Fillmore, Union and Sacramento streets are nearby, as is the Presidio, now part of national park system Blog: Pacific Heights Sights: mansions, staircases, views and whimsey Blog: A Glimpse of San Francisco: Victorian House in Pacific Heights Video Blog: San Francisco condos and coops are selling (If you would like to receive future issues of Living the San Francisco Dream, send me your email address and I’ll be happy to add you to the list. Showcasing a view from a San Francisco home
Lottie Kendall, Serving San Mateo County and San Francisco (Today | Sotheby's International Realty)
When I list a house for sale, helping to capture the feeling of the home is kept top of mind when I write ad copy, write blog posts about the property, when meeting with my professional photographers, and when I take pictures of my own. My Samsung Galaxy SIII has a panorama feature which I've been playing with. Not only does it help me take better shots of interior rooms but it's excellent at capturing views. Take a look: This first picture is a regular shot, cropped some at top & bottom only Now take a look at the panorama, again cropped top and bottom only Now all of Russian Hill is included, as well as Mt. Tamalpais to the left and Angel Island in the center. While the view in reality is wider than this panorama shot, the panorama feature does a much better job of capturing the feel of the view. If you're thinking of selling your home, put me to work to showcase the unique attributes of your property. --- Just another benefit of living in and around San Francisco!
