Flower Mound in Dallas, Texas: Named for the Beauty Mark of the Town

There are many Indian cultures that developed various portions of Texas, even in Dallas, TX, dating as early as 4,000 B.C., which has been thought to create many neighborhoods, including that of Flower Mound. Flower Mound is a mid-sized suburb found within Dallas, however remains an individual town, claimed by residents to be the Town of Flower Mound.

The namesake of the town is attributed to the 12.5 acre mound within the area that is covered completely by beautiful and whimsical wildflowers. The area is inhabited by both commercial and residential properties; however, the flower mound itself is highly protected as private property so no development can destroy the landmark of the town. The flower mound is thought to be a part of a sacred ritual of Wichita Indians that once inhabited the area, which increases the mound’s value and worth to residents around.

Although the town remained quite small in population with just around 1,300 to 1,400 the area begin to really take off during the development of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport that now is quite accessible to those within the town. The homes also took off during the 70’s boom of growth, with relevant architecture that is seen throughout the home.

Homes in the area are quite costly compared to other areas, with a median value that remains around $243,000, providing very lush and quaint scenery within a very luxurious community. Residents are known to hold a household income on average over $150,000, which is what feeds the lovely town and creates the prominent wealth and financial strength of Flower Mound.
Although it sounds like a small hippie retreat, Flower Mound is a surprisingly affluent neighborhood within Dallas that has a great source of access to all of Dallas’s surrounding attractions and entertainment portals, as well as transportation and the Lewisville Independent School District.

Residents within Flower Mound are a people that enjoy the wonderful location they are settled upon, giving way to the many events that abound throughout the area. Children are seen scattered throughout the town, gathering together and playing in the environment they have been blessed to live within. Yards are scarcely bare due to the influence of outside events and gatherings that are always taking place to enjoy the community and relish in the great town they are within. The town of Flower Mound now has a population over 70,000, with growth extending throughout the area with the influx of development increasing value of Flower Mound.
